SUIBAN "JUETSU"

Origin: Japan.
Size: 5.5 x 3.5 x 0.4 inches, 14.5 x 9 x 1 cm (w x d x h)
Comments: A beautifully made suiban, in a thick creamy blue glaze which has cleverly been allowed to run during firing to expose a dark band around the upper rim.
The name "Juetsu" has been impressed on the underside in a seal script form.
Toen (est. 1927), owned by Kimata Etsuji was a manufacturer of porcelain containers for plants. Pots were produced there with the technical knowledge of Kato Juho. The name "Juetsu" was established in 1961 by taking the initials of Kimata Etsuji and Kato Juho.
Price: SOLD, with thanks.
