Furuya-ishi suiseki

Furuya-ishi suiseki

FURUYA-ISHI, Japanese suiseki

Origin: Wakayama prefecture, Japan.
Size: 8 x 3 x 4 inches (20 x 7.5 x 10 cm)
Daiza: Carved from rosewood, in the traditional Furuya-ishi design.
Comments: As befitting with a suiseki of this high quality, it has twice been exhibited (1994 and 1999) at the Meihinten, the annual exhibition of the Nippon Suiseki Association for which only the finest suiseki are chosen for display.

The suiseki has been named "Zuiunkyo", which is written on the lid of it's kiri bako (storage box)

suiseki

suiseki

PONPIRA-ISHI, Japanese suiseki

Origin: Hokkaido, Japan.
Size: 7 x 3.5 x 3.5 inches (18 x 9 x 9 cm)
Daiza: When I originally purchased this suiseki it never had a daiza, which I felt was something a stone of this age and quality needed. To remedy this, I comissioned Mr. Koji Suzuki, one of the leading daiza carvers in Japan, to make one which would be sympathetic with the stone. I was very pleased with the result and think he has done a wonderful job.
Comments: The stone has now been named "Keirin", and is written on the lid of it's kiri bako (storage box)

Featured in the book "When Men and Mountains Meet", suiseki # 82
